I saw the first photo and thought it oddly sad and then scrolled down and realized where the flowers were and found it strange that even before it was clear, there was a hint of sadness in the photo.
I like to think that when the wind blows the petals will scatter, carrying with them the bittersweetness that comes with the circle of life and death. Beautiful.
The first picture shows the dried stalks from the black-eyed susies I put on there a few weeks back.
Generally I take roses to the grave, pull the petals off the stems and scatter them on the grave. Costco usually has a 2 dozen for about 15-16 bucks. The grave is in "her" home community - family cemetery and is an hour and half from home. (although it is only a few miles from her mom's - the kid's mawmaw) So anyhow, we go over once or twice a month to mawmaws, and I take roses to pull apart and leave the petals on the grave. And at Easter or Mother's day or her birthday the kids will go too and help with the flowers. There is some therapy in taking the time to pull a few dozen roses apart and spread out...
The last picture is all two dozen roses pulled and spread over the grave. Mawmaw likes the grave "mounted up" as she calls it. I been thinking maybe it's time for the grass to grow...

Unexpected beauty, nicely done.
