above the tree line

Do you know
where the butterflies are?
 Along the hill
where the milkweed grows,
Off the main trail,
above the tree line,
in the field above the
gurgling stream.

Do you know
where the butterflies are?
The stomach flutters,
the chest feels tight,
the head feels light,
the eyes lock
The butterflies, yes,
I know where they are.

I'll tell you tomorrow. I signed up for a bone marrow registry and saw a lion defecate, among other things.

Yes all those places and so close.... that must be the reason why most women tatoo a butterfly in their shoulder, their ankle, their hip...

What a great poem! The butterfly is so meaningful! I love how you connected nature and nerves-very creative!
