Love Letter No. 51 - Almost Love

Dear A,
Is it enough, that we looked over the precipice
and stared into eternity together? That our hands
touched electric, stirring over every nerve
of sweltering need? That thinking of you takes
my breath even now, that calling out to you twists
off shards of soul, that we had so much more than
almost, that it froze me the last time I saw
your face?

Almost is the word, but not because arrival
didn't happen, it was the truest experience
of the heart. No, almost is the word because
in pulling away the pain was infinite, the only
fear is having to repeat the tragedy of dissolution.
And should that 'boy' fail in manly duty, his disgrace
will be completed by the machismo aroused
within this broken psyche. I kindly advise that your
womanly graces best be stowed deep within
the fortress of your heart, for the blunt dynamo
of this love will subdue every defense, the will
once thought steeled against this resolute intention
will "almost" work, yet, it is more certain to fail
than the flight of Icarus.

Almost, you wait too long, almost, I return.

With deep and tender affection,

L

the heart's domain

(for N)

The heart and it's domain, its throne ascended,
Attained and held, now, both strong and attached.
Princess, now upon the ensconced pedestal,
Alighted, revoked abdication as intended.

This realm, its situate for keenest observation,
The ebb and flow of ocean's surging tides,
Or gaze to darkest night the sparkling stars
Yes, communion sweet with nature's conversation.

More meets the eye watching one's own interior,
The gaze turn's fixed, oh so gentle must it be.
Watching all the workings, intellect, spirit,
And emotions bring their gifts for sights superior.

oh woman, glorious blend

almost home, scars and all life's delicate yet so robust - weapons stowed standing tall warrior trained emotion or princess drawn heart which to trust?

letting tears wash
the grime of clashes, this fair maiden as the phoenix rising, high above devastation's ashes

poison of attacking serpent in memory causing
most uncertain thoughts, prosecute the stalwart combatant yet known outwardly as nonchalant,

letting those
with hardened ignorance walk away, with their airs and chide
the best now rise up, winning the day, where thoughts collide
This force serves light and darkness gives depth unknown in past, ability to fight or discover truth inside that will lead and last all loss becomes the foremost gain for letting go you're refreshed from pain
Let ultimate conquering release fair maiden as the dove,
while the princess warrior remains, if bidden, to come for conquest
glorious blend of strength, beauty, courage, wisdom, and love
