the freak

Resentment, a freak in my neighborhood
close to us it resides - who thought it could
given a home by others nearby
in family or person who thought it would fly
away and leave, yet it stayed
away and leave, yet it stayed

Resentment, a freak in my house
it's staying over - get out you louse
but we opened the door in a time of disease
not thinking it might land, thought it would blow with the breeze
away and leave, yet it stayed
away and leave, yet it stayed

Resentment, a freak in my head
creeping around in there - making me dead
to the best that life offers, keeps me waiting and funky
not thinking or thankful, on my back like that monkey
that won't leave, yes it stayed
it won't leave, yes it stayed

Wow, powerful metaphor. Would you mind if I use this in my Poetry class next year? I will give you credit, of course :)
